BUSHVELD SAFARIS & OUTFITTERS – Code of Conduct
We as Bushveld Safaris do ethical hunting and conservation is on top of our agenda.
We don’t do any kind of “canned hunting”. It’s all about walk and stalk giving both the hunter and the animal a fair chance. We hunt in about 25 000 HA farmland with free roaming animals. None of them are in any small camp. It can take you 5 days to stalk a specific animal, sometimes. It consists of multiple concessions that provides our clients with all kinds of options.
Bushveld Safaris supports the local community with meat and specific projects. This obviously assists in the none-poaching because of the local touch and support. Because of the private game farms in this area which is the heart of the hunting area in Africa, we get lots of support from all owners to stop poaching in totality and this kind of action is extremely serious.
A full conservation plan is in place, and we place a huge focus to continue this plan. If it wasn’t for hunting safaris like us some species would have been no more. We always keep the numbers accordingly to local standards. It is illegal to not follow these rules and standards.
We can only hunt any ivory animal with the correct permit that comes from our regulator. Permits are given per year and there is only a couple available each year. This is done to keep the conservation in order. Bushveld Safaris is tied to a local trust. The local people own this land, but we have a contract with them to bring hunters into their trust and all meat goes to the local community.
We provide rifle and bow hunting at our hunting Safari. The lodges employ a lot of previously disadvantage people that does not have education but still given the opportunity to earn money for their families. We will always strive to build and sustain the hunting safari and we have strict rules that we work under with serious consequence if you don’t follow that.
It is good to hear that the hunter is serious about the rules and regulations. Our international accredited professional hunters are the best in the trade and will provide more InSite into hunting and conservation and not just around the big animals but also about the small ones. They are professionally trained to handle international clients.
For Bushveld Safaris, it is not about the kill but about the experience for all hunters and none-hunter. We also encourage local trips to support the communities in other areas like Kruger Game Reserve, Etosha National Park, Zimbabwe, Namibia etc.
